Virtual care company AvaSure announced that it has agreed to acquire Ouva’s smart room solutions. The AI-powered technology provides virtual care solutions for hospitals. According to AvaSure, Ouva’s technology will be incorporated into AvaSure’s Intelligent Virtual Care Platform.1

In a press release, AvaSure’s CEO Adam McMullin said, “We are delighted to incorporate Ouva's comprehensive AI capabilities and welcome Ouva's expert AI engineers and developers, further enhancing our in-house capabilities to deliver innovation to our customers. With this acquisition, we are strategically investing in the advancement of AvaSure's platform to enhance our ability to deliver innovative solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency."

In the same press release, Ouva’s CEO Dogan Demir added, “This acquisition, born from a year-long partnership, is a natural progression of our shared vision. We are not just merging technologies; we are combining passionate and talented innovators dedicated to tackling hard problems in healthcare. AvaSure is set to be the driver of the AI transformation of hospital care, creating a hopeful future for increasingly strained hospital care services. Under AvaSure's visionary leadership, I'm confident that our technology and team will play a pivotal role in shaping the future we will all benefit from."

This is the latest development for AvaSure’s digital care technology. In June of this year, the company announced that it had been named as one the top smart room companies by AVIA Marketplace.2

In a press release issued at the time, McMullin said, “We are excited to be recognized by AVIA Marketplace. Our solutions are designed to be scalable and can be deployed across thousands of rooms and multiple locations. This scalability ensures that healthcare providers can expand their virtual care capabilities as needed, adapting to changing patient volumes and care demands."

In the same press release, AVIA’s SVP of digital health solutions Dhiraj Patkar said, “In an era where technological innovation is transforming every aspect of our lives, smart rooms stand at the forefront of revolutionizing patient care in healthcare facilities. Patients today expect a seamless, technology-enabled experience during their healthcare journey, and smart rooms are pivotal in meeting this demand. Our research underscores the transformative power of smart rooms in enhancing patient safety, comfort, and outcomes by integrating advanced monitoring, automation, and communication systems. AVIA Marketplace is leading this evolution, providing health systems with the insights and tools needed to implement effective smart room strategies. By embracing these solutions, we can bridge the gap between patient expectations and healthcare delivery, ensuring health systems not only keep pace with technological advancements but lead the way in providing patient-centric care."

Also in June, AvaSure hosted an event for chief nursing executives in Nashville, Tennessee, which sought their input on how to develop better virtual care delivery models.3

AvaSure’s chief clinical officer Lisbeth Votruba said at the time, “We understand that to transform care, we must have a deep understanding of the clinical workflows, change management, and leadership required to implement real change and achieve results. Getting feedback on strategic solutions that address how technology supports and improves care delivery models allows clinical teams to drive better outcomes and focus on the most critical patient needs. Collaborating with this talented group of nursing leaders allows us to be true partners to health systems."
